Overview & Reviews
The Monte Carlo receives only minor changes for the 2003 model year. The base LS model has been upgraded with standard four-wheel disc brakes, traction control and remote keyless entry. Both the LS and SS models sport newly styled wheels, four new exterior colors and the option of adding XM Satellite Radio.
- Spacious interior, low sticker price, strong V6 in SS models.
- Mediocre performance, bland interior with cheap materials, no passenger side-impact airbag.

My Last Chevy - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Tim Little - September 28 - 11:26 amFell in love with the Montes after owning a 98. But now I am ready for a divorce. Paint is flaking off, sunroof no longer works, head light sockets keep melting, random rattling sounds under the car, bad a/c unit and broken seatbelt covers. And what did Chevy do about it when I called them? They gave me a survey about my Chevy ownership history and then told me that I was out of luck, that the paint problem was because of living in New England. Since I dont plan on moving, I apparently am discluded from owning any more Chevys. Of course, after they told me I was on my own with all the other issues, that was the last straw, and I babied this car! Horrible trade in value.

Fun car "But" - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By jdbca - February 20 - 10:00 amLove the car but hate the service from the local dealers. The front rotors have warped twice in a year. Service department seems to think this is not a warrantee situation.

Good but could be great - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Leigh Z - July 22 - 10:00 amAfter spending a month with the car, I am beginning to really like the car. For everyday commuting it is very comfortable and gets very good gas mileage. What it isnt is a performance beast that makes me want to take it out for the hell of it and just cruise around. For a SS moniker car I expect it to outperform the average sedan from Japan. Sadly, it just does not cut it under the hood.

Nice Looking Monte SS but...Theres room for Improvement - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By carguy310 - March 8 - 8:41 amBought my 03 Monte Carlo SS used in August 2010 with 113K miles. One owner car before I acquired it. Never been hit or wrecked. Was well maintained. A/C wasnt working when I got it so I had to replace the A/C compressor right away due to leaky seals. Less than a month after purchase goes by, engine went bad at 114K miles. It needed a complete rebuild due to a gasket leak allowing the fluid to run into the cylinders & caused a rod to go bad. A couple of interior buttons & dash lights are blown. The fan speed dial does not work on 1 at times but works on 2-5 with no issues. The body has a tiny wee bit of rust on it. Mostly on the fuel door(outside) and the doors (inside).

My toy - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Anthony Del - March 8 - 2:00 amWent into dealer to buy a new pick-up. When I saw the Black Monte Carlo on the floor I just had to have it. I have had it for a month now and am very pleased. Except for the creaking rear window. When it is cold outside and you hit a bump the window creaks. The dealer says the rear windshield was improperly installed at the factory. They did the prescribed maint. but it still creaks. Tomorrow they will try again.
